Automatically delete forwarded messages on your answering machine
If you are away from home for a longer period of time, messages left on your answering machine can be forwarded to you by e-mail. The new firmware also lets you automatically delete the messages on the answering machine that have been forwarded so that there is always room for new messages if you are on the road.
Online and energy monitor
To go to the online monitor, click “Internet” under “Connection Information” on the start page of the FRITZ!Box user interface (see figure below). You will find extensive information about your Internet connection here, for instance, data currently being transmitted, enabled ports and active additional functions. The online counter provides information about the duration of the active Internet connection and the volume of data that has already been transferred.

Quicker access for USB storage devices
The new firmware also brings improvements for the FRITZ!Box 7170 in terms of speed and security: You benefit from faster transmission because you can access data on USB storage devices that are connected to the FRITZ!Box. This increase in speed is a clear advantage for transferring data-intensive multimedia content.
Information about USB storage devices
You have quick access to information about any USB devices connected to the FRITZ!Box 7170 by clicking “USB Devices” on the start page of the user interface:

At a glance, you can see how much storage space is left on the connected USB storage device. To view information about the file system of the USB storage device and the speed of data transmission, just move your mouse over the name of the device.
