FRITZ!Box for "Perfect Internet Access"

The April 2008 issue of the Swiss trade magazine PCtipp provides advice to readers on purchasing home networking equipment. The editors present different home network options and test four devices in each network configuration. Among the devices tested was AVM’s successful FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170, which went up against three products from other manufacturers in the WLAN router with modem category. FRITZ!Box was the clear winner in the comparison.

Extra Points for Excellent Features

The strong showing is due in part to the large range of features FRITZ!Box offers: “AVM delivers a feature explosion with its FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170: telephone including Internet telephony, a multimedia server, a printer port, a digital answering machine and fax reception – it’s all possible. Another big hit is the German-language wizard, which takes you through all the settings the first time you install FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170.” The variety of connection options also sets FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 apart from the competitors: “A rear USB port lets you connect hard drives and printers to your network.” This lets all PCs on the network access your USB printer or USB hard drive.

It Doesn’t Get Much Better

The conclusion is just as positive: “It doesn’t get much better than this: AVM’s FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 replaces several single devices and is intuitive. It guarantees perfect Internet access.”
