connect: FRITZ!Box is Voted "Product of the Year"

As in years past, Germany’s trade magazine connect surveyed its readers about their favorite products. Readers could choose from 169 telecommunications products in 20 different categories.

AVM is pleased to have received 56.0% of the votes for its FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170, the clear winner among PBXs. The Siemens Gigaset SX553 WLAN dsl and T-Com Speedport W900V came in a distant second and third with 21.9% and 7% respectively.

The connect reader survey also provided insight into telecommunications trends. 57.3% of the respondents already use wireless LAN at home, while an additional 11.6% are planning to do so in the future. Responses also indicated a clear trend towards fast broadband with 78.5% of readers currently using ADSL to connect to the Internet. When asked about planned purchases, a further 13% indicated that they will switch to faster ADSL access.
