Network Distributed ISDN for Windows 2000
Network Distributed ISDN for Windows 2000 (NDI) provides and manages shared use of a server's ISDN-Controllers throughout the network. NDI allows LAN users to take advantage of the many ISDN-based communication applications, including telefax transmission direct from office applications, ISDN file transfer with other businesses, and on-line services such as e-mail and home banking. NDI manages the available ISDN channels and allocates them to LAN users dynamically, on demand. In this way NDI reduces the purchase and operating costs of PC ISDN communication in the local-area network. Moreover, NDI provides user-specific ISDN management and ISDN accounting, and ensures greater security in the network.

The NDI architecture
| NDI is a Windows XP, 2000, or NT system service that shares active ISDN-Controllers in the network | |
| The NDI client is installed on all Windows workstations in the LAN | |
| NDI's client/server communication takes place over the network protocol TCP/IP | |
| NDI supports any number of NDI clients (no per-user licensing) |
