Serie: FRITZ!OS – neue Funktionen für Ihre FRITZ!Box

The FRITZ!OS series – new features for your FRITZ!Box

Part 5: guest access via LAN, WLAN telephony and watch your line

In the fifth and final part of our series on the new functions of FRITZ!OS, you’ll find information on the possibility of granting guests Internet access via LAN, as well as on the enhanced quality of WLAN telephony, and the watch your line feature.

Guest access via LAN

With the guest access feature, you can offer your visitors access to the Internet – although not to your home network. It’s not just possible to connect wirelessly, as has been the case until now, but also via a LAN connection. So your visitors can connect to the Internet, but won’t have access to FRITZ!NAS, the FRITZ!Box user interface, or the devices connected to your home network. For users with a FRITZ!Box Cable, guest access, both wirelessly and via a LAN connection, is a brand-new feature.

Simply enter “fritz.box” into your browser to call up the user interface, then, from the menu, go to “Home Network / Network / Network Settings / Guest Access”.

WLAN telephony

With the FRITZ!App Fon, you can make calls from home conveniently with your smartphone via WLAN. And these calls will now be prioritized within the wireless network – and will even have priority over the signals of neighboring WLAN stations.

So your conversations will be transmitted without delay and in the best-possible quality. This will happen automatically once you’ve updated your FRITZ!Box – and there’s no need to adjust your settings.

Watch your line

Do you want to get the latest information on your home DSL connections, even when on the go or at the office? Your FRITZ!Box can now automatically send you a push e-mail that contains practical links relating to your router. If you so wish, you can also find out via which IPv4 or IPv6 address your FRITZ!Box can be accessed at any given time.

You’ll find these features on the FRITZ!Box user interface by going to “System / Push Service.”
