AVM lets you take a walk on the safe side - also with DECT
Recently, the issue of "Security and DECT" was the focus of discussions in various trade journals. The DECT wireless standard has been in use now for almost two decades. It is very common and considered to be secure. DECT has various security mechanisms, for example, it authenticates devices involved in calls and makes use of an encryption protocol with no known security vulnerabilities. These security mechanisms are not, however, implemented uniformly by all device manufacturers – some devices also allow unencrypted connections. To intercept individual conversations, all that’s needed is a bit of effort, a dash of criminal initiative and a smattering of technical knowledge.
AVM devices encrypt voice data
With AVM devices, however, users are well-armed against criminal eavesdroppers. Both the base station and the handsets encrypt the transmitted voice data. And the best part is: users can even verify this themselves – with the DECT monitor integrated into the FRITZ!Box user interface.
The DECT monitor provides comprehensive information on the cordless telephones connected to the FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270. Not only does this make DECT telephony transparent, it is also a convenient way for you to check whether your mobile component offers voice data encryption. You can find more information on our
