The FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 scored high marks in a recent comparison test conducted by the German magazine, connect: The staff of this IT magazine awarded the box an overall grade of “very good”. This rating is made up of three “very goods” for equipment, ease of use and quality of service. The last category represents the quality of service from the user’s point of view.

“Telephony Is Where AVM Really Shines”

The advantages the box offers over the device it was compared to really became apparent in the telephony functions. The FRITZ!Box is unbeatable here! Lots of nice extras make the user’s day-to-day a whole lot easier. With the simultaneous ring function, the user’s phone rings at home and in the office at the same time. The integrated answering machine doesn’t just record messages, it can also e-mail them as WAV files. And, the integrated fax machine saves incoming faxes which can also be forwarded by e-mail.

The FRITZ!Box also scores a lot of points with its versatility: because the DSL modem can be bypassed, it is not only possible to operate the box with a normal DSL connection, it can also be hooked up to a cable TV connection, WiMAX wireless connection and fibre optic access. It goes without saying that the box is easy to install and has secure WLAN encryption activated out of the box.
