Energy efficiency at AVM

Energieeffizienz bei AVMEnergy efficiency is a major concern at AVM during product development, and new innovations in energy efficiency are constantly being made. We have received positive feedback both from our customers and from the trade press. In July 2007, the trade magazine “connect” tested the power consumption of VoIP/PBXs, crowning FRITZ!Fon the winner thanks to its low consumption of just 6.2 watts. FRITZ!Box came in a close second with an excellent 6.3 watts. The average power consumption of all systems tested was much higher (8.75 watts). connect even expressly recommended its readers to use the energy saving updates AVM regularly makes available for its FRITZ! products.

The following history illustrates AVM’s commitment to the environment:

New Firmware Eliminates Power-Hungry Fax and Answering Machine
AVM has made its FRITZ!Box even more energy efficient by eliminating the need for a power-hungry fax and answering machine. New firmware conveniently integrates both devices into the FRITZ!Box. Users can now save up to 10 watts depending on the standby consumption of their old devices. (CeBit 2008)

Practical and Convenient: Deactivating the DECT Base Station
Eco Mode is now available for the top-of-the-line FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270. Not only are unused interfaces switched off automatically and processor output minimized in standby, you can now conveniently deactivate the DECT base station when no mobile components are connected. Not only is WLAN-Funk optimized when in use, you can also switch it on and off using sleep mode or the keys. (December 2007)

Enhanced Eco Mode Reduces Power Consumption by 15%
FRITZ!Fon’s advanced Eco Mode considerably reduces power consumption using such features as automatically minimizing processor output when the device is in standby. Eco Mode lets you cut the device’s power consumption by 15% (equivalent to 1 watt per device). (June 2007)

All Energy Savings at a Glance – with the new Energy Monitor
Countless measures such as power-saving operation of unused LAN interfaces and WLAN sleep mode further boost the FRITZ!Box’s energy efficiency. An energy monitor gives a clear overview of both the current and average savings in power consumption. Eco Mode can now reduce energy consumption by a full 20% (1 watt per Box). (June 2007)

Reduce DECT and WLAN Output Power as Needed
Thanks to new firmware, FRITZ!Fon also features Eco Mode. Now you can reduce the DECT and WLAN power output as required. If the handset is in the base station, you can conveniently switch off DECT wireless communication. Sleep mode or a keycode lets you switch off the WLAN entirely, and you can cut output power gradually down to 6%. (CeBit 2007)

Thanks to Eco Mode, AVM a Trend-Setter in Energy Efficiency
Thanks to an update, FRITZ!Box now offers Eco Mode for the first time, letting you considerably reduce power and processor output when the device is in standby. AVM has taken on the role of trend-setter in energy efficiency as it already meets the requirements of the planned EU Commission Code of Conduct on energy efficiency of broadband devices. (December 2006)

Environmental Protection Is Key, Even during Production
Environmental protection plays a key role, even in the production of FRITZ!Boxes in southern Germany. AVM uses primarily recyclable materials and advanced production processes to slash energy consumption and the volume of waste.
