It’s a cinch to establish a secure WLAN connection – and WPS even lets you connect to WLAN devices from other manufacturers.

WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) can now be downloaded as an update for the FRITZ!WLAN USB stick N. The WPS standard created by the WiFi Alliance makes it a piece of cake to establish a secure wireless connection to WLAN devices from other manufacturers. Of course Stick & Surf, our time-tested and straightforward technology, continues to be available for FRITZ!Box WLAN products with a USB port.

What else is new? If a FRITZ!Box is used as a repeater or if the FRITZ!WLAN repeater N/G is used, the WLAN stick automatically connects to the FRITZ!Box which has the greatest WLAN network range when another attempt is made to establish a connection.

With the Microsoft Windows 7 release candidate, there is also now a new operating system waiting in the wings. FRITZ!WLAN USB stick users who want to work with the new operating system can switch right away. The necessary drivers for the operating system are already available in the AVM download area. Both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of Windows 7 will be supported for the editions of the new operating system listed below:
  • Windows Starter Edition
  • Windows 7 Home Basic
  • Windows 7 Professional
  • Windows 7 Enterprise Edition
  • Windows 7 Ultimate

The update for Windows 7, Vista and XP is available to download for all AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB sticks – 32 and 64-bit versions are available for each edition. Users of FRITZ!WLAN and AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB sticks v1.1 can also use the setup in Windows 2000.
