Even if people just want to ‘switch off’ during the well-earned break, it is becoming more and more difficult, particularly for professionals, to ‘cut the connection’ completely. So why not just manage connections from any vacation destination instead?

Peace of mind, whenever you need it, with flexible telephony features

To save time and money, for instance for voicemail from overseas, the FRITZ!Box Fon devices forward all voice mail and faxes to your e-mail account in real time as audio (WAV) files or PDF documents. Through this push service, which includes a daily “missed calls” list, you are informed promptly about what is going on, even while sunbathing poolside. Furthermore, the sophisticated built-in PBX feature of the FRITZ!Box series allows you to forward incoming calls to any fixed line or mobile number while you’re away, or even decide to receive only calls from selected parties at your vacation resort. The night service setting can also be applied, to define when calls may be forwarded to you directly, along with a useful alarm function.

Secure remote access to your NAS at home

Sorting out and sharing vacation pictures with friends and family is no longer a time-consuming task after returning home. If you wish to connect remotely to your network at home or in the office from an internet cafè, the VPN functionality embedded in the FRITZ!Box devices allows you to access your data safely or upload pictures and share them with friends in real time through the built-in FTP server, which is easy to configure with a dynamic DNS service like dyndns.org. Used in combination with your media equipment at home, you can upload your photos from your holiday location, e.g.: using a smartphone, and your family at home can view the pictures on their TV set thanks to the streaming capability of the FRITZ!Box 7270.

Save power and avoid radio waves emissions while you are away

Since the FRITZ!Box combines several devices into a single box, it drastically reduces the overall power consumption, even when you leave it on while you are away. As additional contribution to green IT, the AVM FRITZ!Box series includes a feature to turn off the wireless signal completely while you are away, to both further minimize power consumption and avoid unnecessary radio wave emissions when you are away.

Home barbecue

For those spending some vacation time at home, the FRITZ!Box features media streaming services via Universal Plug & Play (UPnP) to access your entertainment contents from anywhere in the building. If used in combination with the recently announced FRITZ!WLAN Repeater N/G, users can stream their preferred MP3 to the radio on the patio or in the garden, perhaps while barbecuing with friends. At the same time, the extension of the wireless network range achieved by the Repeaterallows you to surf the net while tanning outside – or to even receive fixed line calls on your smartphone via a special app. You’ll be able to take advantage of all of the telephony features integrated in the FRITZ!Box series by connecting to the network with the Repeater.
