AVM FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390

Your home network is even easier to use with a free FRITZ!Box upgrade

WLAN guest access: give your visitors secure WLAN access
New user interface and easy access to FRITZ!NAS network storage
FRITZ!Box is one of the first terminal devices to support IPv6 connections

In keeping with the strong home networking trend, the communication specialist, AVM, is now offering a major upgrade for the FRITZ!Box 7390 free of charge. The new firmware includes numerous new features for WLAN, NAS, IPv6 and telephony. A new user interface displays information about the Internet, home network and telephony and allows individual changes to be made intuitively and quickly. The free upgrade can be installed using this interface with just a few clicks of the mouse. AVM has thus once again shown that users continue to benefit from new features and functions even after they purchase a FRITZ!Box.

WLAN guest access: easy and secure surfing for visitors

The new WLAN guest access gives visitors wireless access to the Internet. Guest access is completely separate from the WLAN of your home network. This means your visitors can surf the Internet and you don't have to disclose the WLAN network key for your home network. Visitors with WLAN-capable smartphones also have Internet access this way.

New user interface for a better overview

The FRITZ!Box user interface has been overhauled. All of the important information about your FRITZ!Box can now be found right on the start page (see press photo). It displays the current connections and all connected devices including computers, network storage and telephones. The new overview also shows energy consumption, the most recent callers and current telephone book entries. All of the information can be modified simply by clicking. As always, users start the FRITZ!Box user interface by entering "fritz.box" in their Internet browser.

More ease-of-use in the home network – new features for FRITZ!NAS

As a media server, the FRITZ!Box makes photos, music, films and other shared files available in your home network. These files can now be accessed with a browser at the address "fritz.nas". The files can be viewed and opened in the browser. You can easily exchange files between your computer, internal storage, USB memory devices or online storage using your mouse. Another new feature is the individual activation of memory devices or folders for access via the Internet. And, with the UPnP media server, files larger than 2 gigabyte can now also be used.

FRITZ!Box for Internet access with IPv6

The upgrade provides the FRITZ!Box with complete support for IPv6, the future version of the Internet protocol, as one of the very first Internet access devices in the world. This means that FRITZ!Box users are well-prepared for the upcoming switch to IPv6. FRITZ!Box services in the home network such as NAS, print servers, firewalls or DHCP servers can also be used with IPv6. IPv6 can also be used with conventional IPv4 connections by means of what is known as 6to4 technology.

Many other functions – also for security and energy savings

The upgrade includes a number of other new functions as well. The new WLAN spectrum analysis, for example, optimizes channel selection of the FRITZ!Box and avoids neighboring WLAN networks and now even baby phones and video bridges. With the WLAN scheduler, AVM has met a major customer request for automatic control of wireless operation. With a few clicks of the mouse, different intervals for when the WLAN network is automatically switched on can be configured for every day of the week. The energy-saving functions of the FRITZ!Box also offer new features. For instance, the times for work days and weekends can now be individually selected. And, with DNSsec, the new standard for more Internet security has been integrated.

Easy to download – just enter "fritz.box" in your browser

The most direct route to these new functions is the automatic update search via the FRITZ!Box user interface. Just enter "fritz.box" in your browser and then search for new firmware under "Settings" and "System", then click "Start Firmware Update".
