My WLAN adapter cannot find the FRITZ!Box. What can I do?

There may be several reasons why a computer with a WLAN adapter cannot seem to find FRITZ!Box. To find out the cause in your case, carry out the following steps in the order in which they are described here. After each step, check whether your WLAN adapter is able to find FRITZ!Box.
  1. For these tests, place FRITZ!Box and the WLAN adapter as close together as possible in the same room, with neither device in a corner of the room.
  2. Connect FRITZ!Box to your computer using the LAN or USB port.
  3. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  4. "Settings" > "WLAN"
  5. Activate the options "Enable WLAN" and "Announce name of the radio network (SSID)".
  6. Click "Apply" to save your settings.
  7. If there is another WLAN network near FRITZ!Box, the frequency bands used by the two networks may overlap and interfere with one another. Try using a different channel for the FRITZ!Box network. To select a channel in the FRITZ!Box user interface, select "WLAN > General" in the menu, and then choose an entry in the drop-down list labeled "Select radio channel".
