Sharing Media Files in the Network with FRITZ!Box (UPnP-AV)

As a media server the FRITZ!Box can make media files (music, video and picture files) stored on a USB mass storage device connected to the port for USB devices of the FRITZ!Box available for playback. The media files can then be played back by any devices in the FRITZ!Box network that support the UPnP-AV standard (e.g. FRITZ! Mini, FRITZ! Media).

Preparation

  1. Install the current version of the firmware for your FRITZ!Box.
  2. Connect a USB mass storage device that contains media files to the port for USB devices of the FRITZ!Box.

Configuring FRITZ!Box as Meda Server

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Settings".
  3. "Advanced settings" > "Storage (NAS)"
  4. Check the option "Enable media server" and click "Apply".
