What web browser settings do I need to open the FRITZ!Box user interface?
Here you will find the settings that are required to open the FRITZ!Box user interface, using Internet Explorer 7 as an example. Should you have any questions, please contact the producer of your browser.
Configuring connection type
The browser must use the network adapter connected to FRITZ!Box (the LAN connection) when opening the configuration (not over a dial-up or VPN connection).- Start Internet Explorer 7.
- Click on "Extras" (gear symbol).
- "Internet Options" > "Connections"
- Activate the option "Never dial a connection".
- "Apply" > "OK"
Activating "online mode"
"Offline mode" must be deactivated so that the browser will not attempt to load the FRITZ!Box user interface from the cache.- Start Internet Explorer 7.
- Click on "Extras" (gear symbol).
- If there is a checkmark next to "Offline mode", click to remove it.
Configuring the Proxy Server settings
If the web browser uses a proxy server, enter the DNS name and IP address of the FRITZ!Box as exceptions in the browser's proxy settings:- Click on "Extras" (gear symbol).
- "Internet Options" > "Connections" > "LAN settings"
- Deactivate the options "Automatically detect settings" und "Use automatic configuration script".
- In the "Proxy Server" section, click on "Advanced".
- Under "Exceptions", enter fritz.box; 192.168.178.1.
- "OK" > "OK" > "OK"
Allowing execution of CGI-Scripts
The FRITZ!Box user interface is based on CGI scripts. Therefore, your browser must permit the execution of CGI scripts in the FRITZ!Box user interface.- Click on "Extras" (gear symbol).
- "Internet Options" > "Security"
- Mark the "Local intranet" icon.
- Set the security level to "Medium".
- "Apply" > "OK"
